Shibuya Sky is an observation deck on the 45th floor of Shibuya Scramble Square offering breathtaking views of Tokyo, including the famous Shibuya Crossing. Located just a stone’s throw from Shibuya Station, it’s a premier spot for city panoramas.

Nestled in the vibrant district of Shibuya, Shibuya Sky is a notable feature of Shibuya Scramble Square, a contemporary high-rise contributing to the district’s ongoing redevelopment. Shibuya Scramble Square has become a key landmark in Shibuya since its opening on November 1, 2019, and is currently the tallest building in the area at about 230 meters.

The East Tower stands on the site of the former Tokyu Department Store and represents Tokyo’s penchant for reinvention, highlighted by the area’s redevelopment initiated with the relocation of the Tokyu Toyoko Line station in 2013. Consisting of 47 floors above ground and seven below, the tower is a mixed-use marvel. Its lower floors offer a blend of luxury and standard retail, including a fashion section and a supermarket. The higher floors provide office space for a variety of companies, including major IT and media firms, while the 14th floor introduces visitors to Shibuya Sky with digital art installations before they ascend to the Sky Stage on the 45th floor. The 46th floor’s Sky Gallery features a relaxing bar and cafe environment.

The Sky Stage’s expansive open-air terrace is a highlight, spanning 2,500 square meters and providing unobstructed views of key landmarks. Evenings at the terrace are lit up by the “Crossing Light” installation, and on clear days, sights extend to Tokyo Tower, Tokyo Stadium, and Mount Fuji. An exhilarating glass floor offers a direct look down into the bustling streets.

While Shibuya Sky is a modern addition to a commercial complex, it holds significance in offering residents and visitors alike a unique perspective on Tokyo. Whether one visits during the day or night, Shibuya Sky provides an experience that deepens one’s appreciation of the city.
